The Insight-2-Health Fitness Challenge is a fun, yet challenging, fitness and lifestyle initiative designed to promote measurable and long-lasting health and fitness outcomes in program participants. The objective is to introduce lifestyle changes that are sustainable. Participants meet up to four times a week in a group class setting.  Participants also consult with a nutrition expert and mental health professional.

The Insight 2 Health challenge kicks off on Saturday, September 10.The program is a collaboration between McFarlane Media Interests (MMI), Insight News’ parent company, and The F.I.T. Lab, Co., a St. Paul, Minn., fitness studio owned by Tyrone Minor, a certified personal trainer.

Al McFarlane

President of McFarlane Media Interests, Inc., & owner of MN’s largest circulation African & African American oriented community newspaper, Insight News. He hosts the weekly public policy broadcast, Conversations with Al McFarlane, 9-10am Tuesdays at KFAI FM 90.3 & 106.7. The television version of Conversations with Al McFarlane airs on SPNN in St. Paul and MTN in Minneapolis.  McFarlane is president of Black Publishers Coalition, a marketing & advertising sales firm, president of Garth McFarlane, a national media buying firm, and president of Minnesota Multicultural Media Consortium.. He has been elected to the board of National Newspaper Publishers’ Association (NNPA), “The Black Press of America.`, and has served as Secretary for NNPA Foundation Board of Directors.

Tyrone Minor

Tyrone, an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer and licensed physical education teacher is a three time state high school track and field champion, a decorated former division I track and field athlete, track and field national competitor and Olympic trials qualifier.   As a trainer, he prides himself in designing, creating and developing cutting edge fitness routines and exercises that are based on the pillars of traditional compound movements.  He has worked with clients from age 7-65+ and excels at designing innovative, individualized programs and routines that can suit any client from the athlete looking to get quicker, stronger, more agile and explosive to the everyday person looking to improve his day to day life or simply perform her daily activities more effectively.  Minor continues to stay fit utilizing many types of activities ranging from boxing, sprinting, strength training and other modalities.  At age 40+, Minor maintains a body composition in the single digits and lives by the motto “I can’t teach it, if I don’t live it”.
